Kathryn and Zachary’s romantic spring engagement session was the perfect blend of adventure and charm, set against the stunning natural beauty of Central New York. We began their session at the breathtaking Delphi Falls, where the waterfalls and lush greenery made for a dreamy backdrop. From there, we traveled to the quaint and historic town of Cazenovia, NY, capturing sweet moments surrounded by blooming spring flowers. We wrapped up the evening on the dock by Cazenovia Lake, where the golden sunset gave us the most magical lighting to end the day. If you're looking for a wedding photographer in Central New York, Utica NY, Syracuse NY, or Cazenovia NY, this engagement session is the perfect inspiration for capturing your love story in all the beauty this region has to offer.

I absolutely loved getting to know more about Kathryn & Zach and their love story! Here's what I learned:
How did you meet?
Kathryn:We first met back in middle school and started talking. We officially started dating during our freshman year of high school, and the rest is history! Zach ended up moving to Florida with his family at the end of that school year, but we stuck it out and did long distance. After we both graduated high school, Zach came back to New York for college and we were finally done with long distance—only an hour apart instead of 24!
Zach:I started noticing Kathryn back in middle school. By high school, I got my chance and we started dating—and we’ve been together ever since.
What was your first date?
Kathryn:Zach and his mom picked me up from my house and we went to Applebee’s for dinner (yes, his mom came too!). After that, we went to see Ender’s Game at the movies. It was sweet and awkward in the best kind of teenage way.
Zach:I remember picking her up with my mom (she insisted on coming), and we all went to dinner. Then I took Kathryn to the movies. It was one of those dates you remember forever because it was the first of many.
Do you have a favorite date you’ve ever been on together?
Kathryn:One of my favorites was when we went to Ithaca together and explored all the waterfalls and trails. It felt like such a peaceful escape—and being in nature with him is just the best.
Zach:Same here. Ithaca was really special—just us, hiking around, no distractions. It’s when I really felt like “Wow, this is my person.”
Kathryn, what made you fall in love with Zach? What do you love most about him?
He’s the most thoughtful and loyal person I know. He has a way of making me feel completely safe and grounded, even when I’m spiraling over something small. I love how he’s always down to go on an adventure with me—or just lay low and binge-watch shows on the couch. He truly is my best friend.
Zach, what made you fall in love with Kathryn? What do you love most about her?
She’s incredibly kind and strong, and she always pushes me to be the best version of myself. I love how goofy she can be, and how she knows exactly when I need a pep talk or a reality check. She’s smart, beautiful, and hilarious—and I honestly don’t know what I’d do without her.
How did you get engaged?
Kathryn:He totally surprised me! I thought we were just going out for a regular dinner date, but when we got to the park where we had one of our first picnics together, I noticed candles and flowers set up in a circle. At first I thought, “Oh how sweet, someone else is proposing!”—and then I saw our families hiding behind the trees and realized it was for me! I started crying immediately. I don’t even remember if I actually said “yes,” but I’m wearing the ring, so I must’ve!
Zach:I knew I wanted to propose somewhere that meant something to us—so I picked the park where we had our first picnic. I enlisted the help of both of our families to decorate the space with candles, flowers, and photos of us. Once everything was set, I walked her to the spot under the pretense of a casual walk—and the moment she saw it, her jaw dropped. I was so nervous I forgot half my speech, but when I got down on one knee, it didn’t even matter. She said yes, and it was perfect.
What are you most looking forward to about your wedding?
Kathryn:Walking down the aisle and seeing Zach at the end of it. I can’t wait to finally be his wife!
Zach:Marrying my best friend, plain and simple. And maybe finally relaxing after all the planning, haha.
I absolutely cannot wait for Kathryn & Zach’s big day! These two have such a genuine, long-lasting love that’s only gotten stronger with time—and I feel so lucky to be a part of this next chapter in their story.
